Ways to Cultivate a Slower Life


We have all said it before. “Where has time gone? Time just flies by.”

If you read my blog “The Art of Laying Low,”you would know that I‘ve recently started to try to live a slower life and to savor life instead of just flying through it. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, but you can’t live life on super speed mode. That is why I put together a list of the things I do to slow down even if it’s just for 30 min.


Here are the ways you can cultivate a slower life:

  1. Cook More Homemade Meals.

  2. Say “No” More. (When You Do Say “Yes,” Know the Reason Why.)

  3. Go on an Intentional Walk/Jog

  4. Read a Book.

  5. Spend Quality, Undivided, Attention Time with Someone You Care About.

  6. Be Aware of What Your Body Needs. (And Be Aware of What Those Around You Need!)

  7. Call Home.

  8. Buy Your Groceries Way Before You’re “Out of Everything”.

  9. Spend More Time Washing Your Hair. (That sounds weird I know, but if you become intentional with your normal routine, you will be able to make it muscle memory to take a breather.)

  10. Make Some Time for Quiet Time.

You don’t always have to be rushing around bouncing from one thing to the next. You have permission to take things slower.

Just like cooking, we all know if you rush the process, it just doesn’t taste as good. It’s just not as flavorful.

This is the same for life. Take time to let your life simmer. Take a breather. Be intentional with yourself. After making it a lifestyle to slow down, you will be able to taste all the flavors of life.
